01 The story, in three paragraphs

Why everyone keeps coming back.

Nestled just off the beaten path in Phang Nga’s charming Takua Pa District, Khaolak Thaifood Restaurants offers an authentic taste of southern Thailand that genuinely captivates both locals and discerning travelers alike. This cozy eatery specializes in vibrant Thai cuisine, brimming with bold spices and fresh ingredients that awaken your senses with every bite.

The menu shines with beloved classics such as Pad Kee Mao, Som Tam (spicy green papaya salad), and the iconic Tom Kha Gai soup. Diners frequently rave about the explosive flavor profile of the Tom Yum soup, a delicately balanced concoction of spicy, sour, and herbal notes that seems to dance on the palate. The stir fry Panang curry, rich and creamy with just the right hint of heat, also comes highly recommended, promising a comforting yet thrilling culinary experience.

Stepping inside, you’ll find a welcoming and unpretentious atmosphere—far removed from the tourist-heavy beachfront joints. The restaurant’s setting along a quiet side street near the highway offers a serene backdrop filled with the gentle melodies of birdsong, making it a peaceful haven for those seeking genuine flavors without the rush. While being somewhat tucked away, the attentive and warm service ensures every guest feels like a welcomed friend, enhancing an already memorable dining experience.

Beyond the vibrant dishes, Khaolak Thaifood stands out for its excellent value. The prices are notably more reasonable compared to the busier main roads or beach spots, with the added convenience of card payments available at a small surcharge. This combination of quality, authenticity, and thoughtful hospitality clearly resonates with patrons who crave a true slice of Thai culture and cuisine.

For anyone traveling through Phang Nga, Khaolak Thaifood Restaurants feels like discovering a well-kept secret. Each meal not only satisfies hunger but leaves a lasting impression of Thailand’s deep culinary traditions, prepared with care and a passionate commitment to flavor.

A great place, serious about its food, and nicer prices than main road / beach places. We had Pad Kee Mao, Som Tam, and Tom Kha Gai. The ingredients were fresh and insanely flavorful.

Tasty spicy Tom Yum and Pad Thai with seafood. The experience is more for locals than touristic, but we were looking for that deliberately. Nevertheless, it’s still possible to pay by card (+3.5% surcharge).

The restauranrt is not at the beach, but at a side street close to the highway, though it is not noisy and filled with birds' singing. It provides better meals and an excelllent attentive and kind service, better than some beach restaurants. Meals are at reasonable prices. We found by comparison that owner and staff do an excellent job.. Select from a variety of dishes and drinks. You will be satisfied and want to come again.

We loved the food at this great restaurant, easily the best one in khao lak. Does amazing salads, curries are all next level, there's definitely a proper chef who creates interesting tastes in everything on the menu. Good value. Warm and efficient service

Fantastic food! The kids had Phat Thai (amazing and not spicy), we had the Tamarind Sauce Beef (with extra fried garlic) and the Snapper with garlic and pepper. Plus the Morning Glory to share. Everything was so delicious and we’ll be back for sure. The restaurant looks far more authentic than most of the others in Khaolak, yet there’s also quite some tourists. It was a great experience!

We loved this place, went here at least once a day. If we could give more than 5 stars, we would do it. One of the restaurants with the best value for money we have had in our 2 months Thailand trip. Logically also the best place in Khao Lak (in our opinion of course). The staff is also so nice, they cooked the fish we catched on that day. We often had Pad Thai with chicken, but also other dishes like Massaman curry.
